Reactions to Alcohol Examples #1 and #2: severe depression and complete spaciedness.

matt ;)x

Matt:
Date: 13 Feb 2002 2:50 PM
Is spaciedness a word?
Is the skewed shoulder look back in fashion Matt - I know you're the authority on what's fashionable.

Tony:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 11:18 AM
It doesnt matter if that word doesn't exist 'cause i have been given the right by me to create new words for the English language and i think it will now include "spaciedness".
Other recent entries include the verb "to dilem" (an extension of the idea of dilemma) and the verb "to Mr Muscle" e.g. to Mr Muscle the bath.
:o)

Tony:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 11:18 AM
Yes, i'm still a little drunk from Ikon last nite!
;o)

matt:

I knew I once saw Tony in Dictionary Corner on Countdown... I think he'd go very well with Richard Whiteley.

Mmm, toupee.

"Other recent entries include [...]Mr Muscle"

Sorry, I'm really sorry. But I've just been doing this sort of quoting thing in my essay, and really couldn't resist it. I'm so sorry.

Tony you're quite free to make up words if you want to extend your own language (Tonyish?, Tonaise?, Tonism?). However as a defender of the English language I would like to see your claimed credentials for the right to add words to the English vocabulary.

matt:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 1:51 PM
Listen, he said where his credentials came from: "...i have been given the right by me to create new words". So there we go. And apparently new sentence formations for good measure, too.

lol.

matt ;)x

Tony:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 3:07 PM
Ive only just given myself permission to alter sentence structure.
Fun it is much!
Matt: i think rather than u saving the english language, users of the english language need saving from you!
;o)

Tony:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 3:16 PM
By the way, Richard Whiteley is a *LOVELY* man.
Although dictionaries are a bit too close to textbooks for my liking...
library! library! LIBRARY!!

ahem.

Matt:

Tony: Yoda related to you are? A lot it explain would.

E. Dan:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 6:28 PM
Oi! I'm the only Yoda here! ("Evil Dan" is a mix of "Evil Yoda" and my name, coined my Mr. Christ Smith. Cunning huh?)
Ph34r 73h d4r|< 51d3, j00 mu57! 1 4m j00r f47h4r! Hmmmmrmrmrmrmr!
I. Am. So. sorry. I thought I was past that stage in my life. So very sorry.

E. Dan:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 6:29 PM
Only it was _Chris_ Smith, not Christ, as that would have been silly.

matt:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 6:30 PM
Ooh, Dan. Get j00r 1337 h4k0r 5k1775. (shudder)

matt:

"library! library! LIBRARY!!

Don't worry. I had a similar reaction upon being confronted with the prospect of going into the "Science Concourse", mystical place that it is.

*weeps*
Out of pratice you are, oh small and smiley one. Teach you I must? Ph34r50m3 will you be, once the ways of 73h d4r|< 51d3 you have mastered. Then when you are sufficiently 1337, the universe we shall rule, yeeeeeeeeeeessssssss? Muhahahahahahahahahaha(ad infinatum)

"...Ph34r 73h d4r|< 51d3, j00 mu57! 1 4m j00r f47h4r!...."

"...Get j00r 1337 h4k0r 5k1775..."

Er... Pardon?

matt:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 7:56 PM
It is true, O Master. It has been many a long year since I was last immersed in the world of 1337. Four long years, to be precise. Since I last played Quake. Over my sixth form network. After school. Like a bunch of dweebs. Actually, could we not speak like this? It brings back painful memories... ;)

matt ;)x

matt:
Date: 14 Feb 2002 7:57 PM
"...Get j00r 1337 h4k0r 5k1775..."

Er... Pardon?"

Matt: That means, "Get your elite hacker skillz". See, I told you I knew slang.

matt ;)x

E. Dan:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 10:16 AM
afaik it is spelt "h4><0r 5|<1llz", but I could be wrong =)

Tony:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 11:07 AM
I definitely agree, maybe.

Matt:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 1:25 PM
Aah... I think I understand (just). I bow to your superior intellect.

Which I bet is the last thought on your mind before you finally cry yourself to sleep every night. Ahem. Attempting to disengage evil mode, but I've still got traces of eyeliner on, black fingernails and the mandatory long black coat on; it's not easy.

matt:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 1:35 PM
"...which I bet is the last thought on your mind before you finally cry yourself to sleep every night."

Nah, in Tone's case it's, "I wish I hadn't been turned into a dwarf".

matt ;)x

E. Dan:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 1:50 PM
/me calmly hands out the Handbags-of-doom...
You know the rest. Rest assured I will be far from here, and all the Spanish dubloons will be mine!

matt:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 2:01 PM
Ah, don't worry. Mr Tony knows I'm only joshing. I mean, c'mon, I'm only around an inch taller than him, aren't I? (But then again, that's still /taller/, isn't it?...Oh, okay. I'll stop now.)

matt ;)x

Tony:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 2:19 PM
"...70 b3 7ru3! 1 4m VVay 700 1334 f0r j00!"

I get all of that comment except the "1334" bit. wots that meant 2 mean?

Tony:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 2:24 PM
matt: you are taller by less than an inch! so there!!
At least i fit intio the dwarf category, you dont fit into either human or dwarf! which begs the question:
WHAT IS MATT?

Please post ALL answers whether relevent to my commnet or not.
eg matt is mingy, matt is thick, mat is sad etc etc

;o)

Matt:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 2:55 PM
Tony: I think dwarfs are shorter and stockier than you - think you're just vertically retarded.

Tony again: I think 1334 is meant to be elite or something like that but I have no idea why I'm just using Matt's translation.

Matt:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 2:57 PM
I don't think Matt is sad, mad or mingy - he's very sweet, cuddly and loveable.

(If that doesn't scare him nothing will)

matt:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 6:29 PM
1. "...I think dwarfs are shorter and stockier than you..." Shortier and stockier than /Tony/? God.

2. "you dont fit into either human or dwarf! which begs the question: WHAT IS MATT?"
No, it is a good question. I'd love to know myself. Maybe I'm a hobbit, like (drifts off in his own little world - Ed)

matt ;)x

matt:
Date: 15 Feb 2002 6:32 PM
Apologies, Tony.

matt ;)x

Seldo:
Date: 17 Feb 2002 6:18 PM
Lawks, where do I begin to comment? I've spent far too much time in the last week doing assignments, obviously.
1. Has Matt stuffed a bottle of alcopop down his trousers, or was he just (impressively) pleased to see you?
2. I like the idea of Tonyish (obviously). Tonyism sounds like Blairism, i.e. writing dodgy letters encouraging the sale of steel factories to companies registered in the Netherlands Antilles.
3. I can't wait for the day I can say "I Mr. Muscled him" of somebody. It sounds so... naughty!
4. Can Christ Smith walk on water, convert it into wine, or do any of those other neat party tricks attributed to Messiahs? (Why did so many of them involve water, BTW? Plot.)
5. ROFLMAO at Tony the Dwarf. Is he Sleepy? Dopey? Hungry? (Horny?) Or am I getting confused with Smurfs again? I think Tony is really smurfette.
6. Matt is clearly mingy.
7. If Tony is a hobbit, instead, then can I be an elf? I'll learn archery, grow my hair and bleach it (badly) if needs be... (*starts fantasizing about Legolas*)

matt:
Date: 17 Feb 2002 7:43 PM
Tsk, Seldo. Check your sourcing. /I'm/ the hobbit one, being - apparently - neither man nor dwarf. Fun.

Meanwhile, if Tony were a dwarf, he would be Bouncy. If he were a Smurf, he would be the one with the hat.

Tonyish is now an official language. I said so, then.

matt ;)x

E. Dan:
Date: 17 Feb 2002 7:46 PM
Christ Smith is the president of the glorious Computing Society. Arent you in that Seldo? All his miracles involve his Jingly hat of doom. Anyone who has been in the computing labs under L3 in the last month will know of its power, if they bother to look at the whiteboard. None of them involve water, thats soo last few millenia daahling.

Matt:
Date: 17 Feb 2002 8:05 PM
Re: Tony Classification
I don't think Tony can be a dwarf as I'm sure the dwarves have big noses and beards. Last time I checked Tony wasn't blue either so he can't be a Smurf - and definitely not smurfette (horrible visions of a blue Tony in a dress). Wasn't there a Mr Man (Mr Men?) called Mr Bounce or something like that?

Re: Legolas
Frodo is far better than Legolas.

Re: Tonyish
I always felt I should learn another language so is there a dictionary of Tonyish?

E. Dan:
Date: 17 Feb 2002 8:11 PM
Im pretty sure there was ever kind of Mr Man ever. And if there wasnt, you can make them with the help of that darling little site thats matts got a link to.
I think for the Two Towers they should ditch Legolas and teach Frodo how to do that cool swishing with the bow ;-) He's clearly the scrummier of the two.

matt:
Date: 17 Feb 2002 10:15 PM
"He's clearly the scrummier of the two."

Thankyou, Dan. At last someone else who sees sense.

matt ;)x

Seldo:
Date: 18 Feb 2002 12:13 AM
Hello!!!
Frodo: short, permanently stunned expression, keeps getting stabbed. Dumb name.
Legolas: tall, blonde, gorgeous, kicks the shit out of most trolls and doesn't sink into snow. Pretty name, too.

Legolas is clearly da bomb!

And Orlando Bloom is much nicer than Elijah Wood, even in real life.

Matt:
Date: 18 Feb 2002 8:13 AM
I still say Frodo's better - but then I always was a sucker for a guy with blue eyes.

E. Dan:
Date: 18 Feb 2002 11:32 AM
Orlando vs Elijah? We're talking personality or something?
And Legolas is a silly name, it just makes me think of small plastic build-your-own castle rip-off Danish toys. His sole redeeming features are height and the fact that he is _*DAMNED*_ nifty with a bow. Oh, and that snow thing was damned cool as well. OK he rules, but ScrumRating(TM) still lower than the hobbit.

Seldo:
Date: 18 Feb 2002 3:30 PM
Two words: hairy feet.

Also, have you seen Legolas with his shirt off? And "Frodo" makes me think of a doomed species of flightless birds.

(notices Matt's email address, giggles)

E. Dan:
Date: 18 Feb 2002 4:49 PM
Seen lego-boy topless? Nope. But if anyone manages to get both combatants to come to Warwick and remove their tops I'd be more than happy to reserve judgement untill then. =)

Tony:
Date: 18 Feb 2002 9:31 PM
Orlando (elf-guy) definitely wins!

However i'm *slightly* obsessed by a certain James Marsden at the moment. saw him in Gossip on Friday, X-Men (fantastic ffilm!) on Saturday and then in Ally McBeal on Sunday! he is *sooooooo* gorgeous and he can dance AND he can sing! and he has a permanent role on Ally McBeal!!!
like i said, i'm only a tiny bit interested ion him...

matt:
Date: 19 Feb 2002 10:36 AM
"...i'm *slightly* obsessed by a certain James Marsden at the moment..."

In the same way that, say, I was *slightly* obsessed with Dawson's Creek over the summer? Like, let's watch /every/ fugging episode? Because that's twice in one day he's "come up" in conversation... ;)

Just wondered.

matt ;)x

E. Dan:
Date: 19 Feb 2002 4:32 PM
I think that Dawson's creek thing is know as fartoomuchtimeonyourhandsyitis, a common disease, particularly among students, esp those of the sociological persuasion.

Maz:
Date: 19 Feb 2002 4:40 PM
Orlando, obv. Elijah looks like he is 12. Whose james marsden? and wasn't new ally v.confusing - who are all these ppl? and where's Renee?

James:
Date: 20 Feb 2002 11:10 AM
Thank you Mary, its obviously Orlando! James Marsden was Cyclops in X-Men (in case you saw it). And the one in Gossip? Hence Tony's recent obsession.

Tony:
Date: 20 Feb 2002 12:19 PM
In Ally, he's the new one who just started and who Ally fancies and he's the ex-boyfriend of the new woman who is exactly like Ally.
Hope thats made it clearer(!).
mmmm.....

Maz:
Date: 20 Feb 2002 5:02 PM
Cheers James & Tony, tis all much clearer now :)

Will:
Date: 20 Feb 2002 5:58 PM
Sorry to interrupt your conversation ;), but don't Matt's eyes look red in this photo? Hmm.

Seldo:
Date: 20 Feb 2002 6:28 PM
1. I am jealous; we don't have TV reception, so I haven't seen Ally McB in bloody months.
2. James Marsden was also in Disturbing Behaviour, I discovered when *cough* randomly browsing fansites of him *cough*. DB was a crap movie, but I remember seeing it on cable back in Trinidad and thinking what an AMAZINGLY attractive man he was. And in X-men too, obv., though I find superpowers sexier than mere physical appearance, making Storm the sexiest. I can't wait until the sequel, bring on Beast, Gambit and Nightcrawler!

matt:
Date: 20 Feb 2002 7:10 PM
I'd like to point out at this junction that I think James Marsden is very nice too. But I saw Gossip before any of you, so ner.

matt ;)x

Tony:
Date: 21 Feb 2002 12:17 PM
How could i forget Disturbing Behaviour?! You're right, it was a crap film but who goes to see films like that for the plot?
well i certainly didn't...
;o)

PS: damn right you should be jealous Seldo!! hee hee!
;o)

PPS: X-Men rules! i can't wait for the sequel either! apparently its got the same cast...
once again you're right about Storm having the best powers. although there's a character called Psylocke in the comic/cartoon who is by far the coolest woman EVER with really cool powers! no doubt she would have been a gay icon had she had more publicity.

E. Dan:
Date: 21 Feb 2002 12:52 PM
The coolest characters are easily Gambit and Nightcrawler. Both coz of the accents primarily and powers secondarily. Oh, wait, Archangel was pretty damned cool too, obv. Oh, Havoc too, funky headgear. And I haven't seen the film :*( *flagellate, flagellate*
Most powerful X-Man = Phoenix.

E. Dan:
Date: 21 Feb 2002 1:04 PM
But Spiderman clearly rules, in any incarnation. Though the futuristic one is better.

James:
Date: 21 Feb 2002 1:55 PM
I like Psylocke! She's in the X-Men game on PSX. But she's just telekenetic. So Storm is clearly better. And I loved the X-men cartoon. Dark Phoenix Saga were my favourite! Ahem. Okay, will shut up about X-Men now.
Disturbing Behaviour was really crap, I can't believe so many people have seen it. Although I have it on video.

Tony:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 11:32 AM
Phoenix doesn't count! She's not an X-Man (political correctness anyone?) she's an entity that temporarily possessed Jean.
Havoc's crap but i agree with Archangel.
Spiderman?! you must be joking!
Oh, i also think Gambit and Iceman are cool! (no pun intended!)
Mystique is *SOOOOOOO* cool in the film! that fight with Wolverine was amazing!
Psylocke isn't *just* telekenetic!! she has superhuman martial arts abilities she can channel her psychic powers into a physical form (cunningly called "psychic knives"!) which can range from knocking the victim unconscious for a few moments to paralizing them permanently!!
;o)

Tony:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 11:33 AM
Wow! that last comment broke the 100 mark for me!
and probably the longest comment EVER record too!
;o)

matt:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 11:58 AM
"...and probably the longest comment EVER record too!"

As well as breaking some kind of Hyper Speed Barrier?

"Watchers in Germany were surprised to see a tiny burst of bright white light, which sped up and dashed towards the horizon, giggling loudly."

matt ;)x

Tony:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 12:14 PM
Germany is *soooooo* nice! you really should visit there one day!
wahooooooooo.......!!!!!!!!

Seldo:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 12:22 PM
Archangel is yummy. Yeah, I thought about Psylocke and the psychic knives (in interesting transparent purple colour). But she rebelled and tried to kill Xavier, so I don't like her. I don't rate Spider Man, although the Ultimate Spider Man series at Marvel.com at the moment is pretty cool. The whole dotComics sites (also featuring Ultimate X-men) is fantastic, and everybody should read it.

Also, James: you don't admit that kind of stuff. Not even to your friends. That's like me admitting I joined the Justin Timberlake fan club at Yahoo. Whoops.

Seldo:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 12:22 PM
Also, what is Tony taking? And can I get some?

Tony:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 12:22 PM
Due to your comments and recent website updates, Mr Elton, i have been reduced to a giggling heap on the computer room floor!
LITERALLY!!
*SOOOO* many people were looking at me with a strange expression!
Although i see that expression quite regularly....
;o) hee hee

E. Dan:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 1:05 PM
Ahh, but have you seen spiderman of the future? It was called Spiderman 2225 or similar. He has talons, and a hologram that looks like marlyn monroe, and there are flying bikes and direct human-computer interfaces (a lil socket in ppls heads). It was great =) And havok was cool, but im refering to comics at least 15 years old, when he had the hat thing ;-)

E. Dan:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 1:21 PM
Also, he was mean. When he messed ppl up, they bled and died, not just end up in some embarrasing webbing like the original webhead always did. In fact, parker was pretty lame.

James:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 1:23 PM
Does anone else find it weird so many of us watched far too much of the X-Men cartoon? (I don't think X-People sounds as good, PC aside).
And surely most powerful is Juggernaut if we disqualify Phoenix, coz he's invincible.
Okay, sci-fi scariness #2 over

James:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 1:30 PM
Seldo: I know, didn't mean to, it just kind of typed itself. Although I can now take the time to admire the well scripted plot and...scenery.

Tony:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 4:19 PM
Oi bitch! keep your hands off my man!
;o)
(i wish!)
(i really do!)
;o)

Seldo:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 5:23 PM
Not only did Tony make it to a computer before me after our last lecture, he made a post to the board while I was still walking home! Bitch!

I think the *only* cool thing about Spidey is that he doesn't kill people, he just insults them with sarcastic commments for about 20 minutes while he fights them, then turns them over to the authorities (who mysteriously still shoot at him all the time, despite the fact that his only known activities are turning over criminals to justice -- who hired these people?)

Also, in real life superheroes would be a disaster, because they would never hang around to give testimony, so the police would never be able to make an arrest and they'd always have to let the criminals go free. So I suppose killing them makes more sense, really. Except it means you keep having to come up with new villains.

matt:
Date: 22 Feb 2002 5:29 PM
Aaaarrgh! Please. Not the face.

I still think the best superhero ever is Spiff. But there again that's as far as I got into liking comics.

matt ;)x

James:
Date: 23 Feb 2002 3:57 PM
I love Spaceman Spiff! Definitely one of the best superheroes.

matt:
Date: 23 Feb 2002 5:14 PM
Hurrah! Someone else to love Spaceman Spiff! I'm glad it's not just me. He's fantastic!

matt ;)x

E. Dan:
Date: 24 Feb 2002 10:03 PM
Eh? Everbody loves Spaceman Spiff! Down with Mom-Lady! But hes not so much a Super-Hero as a fighter-pilot...

E. Dan:
Date: 25 Feb 2002 8:52 AM
matt: "I'm so cross I didn't get to take this picture!"??
<falls off chair laughing>
<wipes tear from eye>
Ahh, well. I look forward to the extreme campness I will apparently develop in my old age ;-)

Will:
Date: 25 Feb 2002 9:25 AM
8:52?? That's a freaky time to be on campus! And you've even had time to get to a computer and post this (confusing ;) message. /God/.

Seldo:
Date: 25 Feb 2002 9:33 AM
I know! I'm not even on campus, and I have a *lecture* right now! :-)

Bloody Z specification... yet another sleepless night for a 12 o'clock Monday deadline...

E. Dan:
Date: 25 Feb 2002 10:02 AM
The post was in ref to matts parody of this on his site =)
And on a monday morning I'm usually in by 8:30 :-)
/me is bright and chirpy
ZZZZzzzzzz......

And this is my 100th post!
WOO! hey. (uber-cool points if you get /that/ reference ;)

Will:
Date: 25 Feb 2002 11:00 AM
Ah, now I understand :). I wish I was feeling bright and chirpy, but then I guess that'll be my fault for staying up late doing things to the site.... Hmmm. I'm going to my 6 hour lab now!

Matt:
Date: 25 Feb 2002 11:44 AM
Congratulations to Dan for his 100th post, I still say that deserves a prize.

E. Dan:
Date: 7 Mar 2002 6:48 PM
I’m soo disappointed no one has rushed to claim my uber-cool points. You all suck. Especially matt, who claims to like the band.
I shouldn't work so hard, its bad for my temperament.

matt:
Date: 7 Mar 2002 7:59 PM
Sorry, what? Oh - ! Fell asleep there, I did! What's that? What day is it? Thursday? Ooh, Buffy! And ooh, sweets!

Gnarh.

matt ;)x

ps obvious kudos to you, Mr Daniel Go-go-go-van-van-VAN!

Seldo:
Date: 7 Mar 2002 8:09 PM
You'd better not have been sleeping again! You've been doing far too much of that recently, Mr. 15-hour-Monday. Especially not if it makes you late for bows tonight. 9.15 bus! Get ready! :-)

E. Dan:
Date: 7 Mar 2002 8:42 PM
Please tell you know where WOO! hey comes from? Pleeeease? Anyone? They won the bloody Mercury Music Prize for it iirc, though it was slightly before my time...
<Depressed whimper>
This whole work-not-drink thing is gonna be the death of me.

matt:
Date: 9 Mar 2002 3:01 PM
"...Especially not if it makes you late for bows tonight. 9.15 bus! Get ready!"

In retrospect, this makes me laugh lots. God bless public transport.

matt ;)x

Tony:
Date: 11 Mar 2002 5:46 PM
But no-one bless random Cov scum that hang around bus stops with metal poles threatening to start fights with everyone!
;o)

E. Dan:
Date: 11 Mar 2002 5:54 PM
Getting beaten up by random cov scum? awww, damn, I miss all the fun :-(

and btw, in the extremely unlikely case that anyone cares, the ref is from "Loaded" by Primal Scream.

Matt:
Date: 12 Mar 2002 4:33 PM
On a completely tangential poin - is anyone going to be around over Easter? I just trying to work out if there will be anyone worth talking to over the holiday.

E. Dan:
Date: 13 Mar 2002 11:55 AM
Tangents? Here? Avast you irrelevant scum!
I'm gonna be around the second half of the hols... But I'll be netted for the duration =)

James:
Date: 14 Mar 2002 3:11 PM
Just to clarify: one of my housemates friends pulled Mr. Young, apparently. I will be around for about a week, same as last term: technically working, actually spending all day in Xananas.

Matt:
Date: 20 Mar 2002 1:09 PM
Everyone's stopped posting comments - has Will's website gone out of fashion?

On a tangential point - As there's not many people to talk to (at least not people who actually answer text messages) I've updated my website again (www.mattcorder.freewebsites.com). I've actually added some new content. Unfortunately my trial copy of Dreamweaver has stopped working now as it's past its trial period so I'm not sure when I'll update it again.

E. Dan:
Date: 21 Mar 2002 8:37 PM
By jove! It /did/ as well!

Back to Mirage (Week 12)
