Isolation

It seems exercise is what all the cool kids are doing this morning (it’s still morning, right? ;-).

My personal contribution to getting Britain fitter today has been a 50 minute run over towards Offchurch. I haven’t really done much cross-country running since I stopped living on campus, and it’s something I actually quite miss. I find running through Leamington too stressful – you have to concentrate to much on avoiding people, cars and random items of street furniture that you don’t get to enjoy your surroundings or concentrate on the running. And you don’t get to be on your own.

I love people. I love the buzz of cosmopolitan spaces in lively towns and cities. But I’m a country boy at heart, and sometimes you just want to get away from it all.

  1. I was a country boy at heart, too, until I had my heart gouged out by living here for five months.

    (“Suburbanization”‘s a word, right?)

Oh and, P.S., thanks for calling me a cool kid. If only I’d known it simply took sports and exercise to make you cool and popular…aah, right.

I’m going to follow your lead and go jogging on Monday. Ha ha ha. I don’t know what’s happening to me.

    Matt :)x

  2. I used to run to Offchuch! Check out runnning towards Offchurch and then join the canal when you cross over it and run back to Leam that way. It was my favourite route

  3. Offchurch’s definitely the nicest route I’ve found so far, but I can’t see a way down from the village to the canal except along the road. And the disused Leam – Rugby railway (which my house in the second year was built on, incidentally), but I don’t think you can run down that like you can with the Kenilworth – Berkwell line.

    I’m such a geek with my OS map, aren’t I? 🙂
